Launch of the STRIVER project: Strengthening the resilience of river basins in border regions to climate change
IzVRS is participating as a partner in the new European STRIVER project – Strengthening the resilience of transboundary river basins to climate change, with a focus on extreme hydrological events, which is being implemented under the INTERREG Slovenia–Croatia programme.
The project launch agreement was signed on 2 March this year, and the partners met in person for the first time at the project’s kick-off meeting, which took place on Friday 6 March in Novo Mesto.
The first two GPS trackers to monitor the journey of waste along the River Soča have been deployed in Tolmin
On 6 March 2026, the Water Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (IzVRS) organised an event in Tolmin ‘For clean waters: ditch the habit, not the waste’, aimed at raising awareness of the issue of waste in rivers and presenting the activities of the international TETHYS4ADRION project. The event took place at the Tolmin Cinema-Theatre and at the confluence of the Tolminka and Soča rivers.

Government visit to Pomurje: The Slovenian Water Institute presented the technical framework for action at the Rak-1 borehole

Workshop on micro-waste sampling in the River Drava – a step towards harmonised methodologies in the Danube region
The aim of the workshop was to harmonise the various approaches to sampling micro-waste in rivers, with a view to ensuring consistency and comparability of results amongst the project partners.
