Ljubljana, 23 December 2025 – The Water Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (IzVRS) has been awarded the international ISO 9001 certificate, which confirms that it has an established and effective quality management system in place, as well as the Institute’s commitment to the continuous improvement of its processes and professional work.
The ISO 9001 certificate is a significant recognition for IzVRS as the leading professional institution in the field of water management in Slovenia. The standard confirms that work processes are systematically organised, transparent and geared towards the high-quality performance of professional and development tasks in the public interest.
The event marking the award of the certificate was also attended by the Minister for Natural Resources and Spatial Planning, Jože Novak, who took the opportunity to emphasise the importance of strong, professionally independent institutions in the field of water. He highlighted that water management requires a high level of expertise, responsibility and a long-term focus, and that the IzVRS, through its work, makes a significant contribution to the formulation of scientifically sound decisions.
During his visit, the Minister also toured the new premises of the laboratory for the analysis of water pollution, which represent a significant step towards further strengthening the Institute’s technical and analytical capabilities.
In his words, the award of the certificate confirms that the institute is on the right track and that investment in expertise, people and institutions forms the foundation for effective water protection, reducing flood risk and ensuring the sustainable use of water resources.
For IzVRS, the ISO 9001 certificate provides a further incentive to continue strengthening professional excellence, improving internal processes and reinforcing the confidence of the Ministry, partners and the wider public in the Institute’s work.
