Clean Coast 2023 – an invitation to get involved and take part in the clean-up
campaign
On Saturday, 16 September 2023, the fourteenth Clean Coast clean-up campaign will take place along the Slovenian coast.
This year, Clean Coast is once again taking place as part of the world’s largest voluntary clean-up campaign for coasts, seas and lakes – the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) – organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning and the TRI-NITI Institute. The following organisations are participating in the campaign: the Water Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, Andreja Palatinus s.p., Okolje Piran, Komunala Izola, Marjetica Koper, Strunjan Landscape Park, Debeli Rtič Landscape Park, Strunjan Local Community, the Remedies project, Pina, and the Plastic Pirates – Let’s Go, Europe!

Following the clean-up, from 12:30 onwards, we invite you to join us for refreshments and socialising on the beach at Terme Krka Strunjan. A guided tour of the Strunjan Nature Park will take place at 13:30. A workshop on zero-waste cosmetics will begin at 13:00 under the pine trees, and at 14:00 Špela Kaplja will present her book “How to Love a River”.
As part of the ‘Clean Coast’ initiative, there will also be a charity auction and a fundraising drive to help those affected by the floods.
How does the clean-up work?
The clean-up campaign takes place across coastal municipalities; upon registration, each participant will receive the exact location and detailed information.
The clean-up is carried out in groups (3–7 people per group), with one volunteer recording the waste whilst the others carry out the clean-up. Each location has its own coordinator who collects data, which is published in the annual report. At the location, each participant will receive materials and instructions.
Due to organisational requirements, registration is compulsory. You can register for the event by 13 September 2023 at the latest via the online registration form (see below). For further details, follow us on our Facebook page ČISTA OBALA.
Thank you to everyone who shares this event and helps, in their own way, to keep our natural environment cleaner.
