In September, the Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia provided funding for the third generation – ten new KOC 3.0 centres of excellence for human resources development – for the period 2019–2022. With the KOC INOVATIS project, we were selected from a strong field of competitors in the ‘Smart Buildings and Homes with a Wood Supply Chain’ sector. More about KOC 3.0 >> Most of the partners in the new KOC have already participated in two competence centres.
The key aim of KOC INOVATIS is to develop the skills of employees within the partnership and to strengthen networking and the exchange of best practice amongst partners. This will result in greater competitiveness and innovation among companies in the field of sustainable construction, as well as a more skilled workforce. Another important aspect will be the promotion of the activities of KOC INOVATIS and the sector.
KOC INOVATIS brings together 28 partners: KRONOTERM d.o.o. – lead partner, HOLICENTER ANGELIKA – project office management, CENTRE FOR ENERGY-EFFICIENT SOLUTIONS – part of the project office, SELTRON d.o.o., VELUX SLOVENIJA d.o.o., M SORA d.d., KNAUF INSULATION, d.o.o., Škofja Loka, LESOTEKA HIŠE Ltd., LUMAR IG Ltd., REM Ltd., GG SLOVENJ GRADEC plc, ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN JERNEJ GARTNER sole trader, PROTIM RŽIŠNIK PERC Ltd., LINEAL Ltd, DRI Investment Management Ltd, POMGRAD plc, ELEKTRO KUMER Ltd, ZEROX Ltd, EEA Medved Ltd, PLAN-NET SOLAR Ltd, ENERTEC Ltd, ALTERING Ltd, SPRINKLER SISTEMI CUDER Ltd, RESALTA Ltd, EUTRIP Ltd, EUDOM Ltd, general partnership, SMARTIS Ltd, and the Water Institute of the Republic of Slovenia.
The project is co-funded by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union through the European Social Fund.
On 24 September 2019, the first partners’ meeting took place, at which we, the partners, highlighted three key challenges: tackling the climate crisis, promoting a climate-neutral economy, utilising state-of-the-art technologies, taking responsibility for raising environmental awareness, and ensuring the best possible workforce. KOC INOVATIS offers an opportunity to address these challenges through the development of staff skills.
The common thread running through the partners’ fields of activity is sustainable construction. This is a complex process that requires a great deal of knowledge and collaboration across multiple sectors. It is subject to numerous changes (the development of new technologies and digitalisation, advanced technologies and materials, responsiveness, safety, etc.), which presents a particular challenge for employees.
At the kick-off meeting, all members of the new KOC agreed that KOCs are indeed a wise investment that the state and the EU are providing to businesses, as investing in employees is, in fact, the most important factor for the successful operation of businesses.
