Join us for the ‘Clean Coast 2019’ clean-up campaign
“Roll up your sleeves, open your heart and come to Clean Coast” is the slogan with which the Water Institute of the Republic of Slovenia invites everyone to the now traditional Clean Coast clean-up campaign. This year marks the 10th clean-up campaign, which will take place on 21 September 2019 along sections of the Slovenian coast.
To help with the organisation of the event, registration is compulsory at: uros.robic@izvrs.si by 11:00 on 19 September 2019 at the latest. Upon registration, volunteers will receive further instructions and additional information about the event itself.
We will notify you of your clean-up location and meeting point by email by 3.00 pm on Friday 20 September at the latest. (The event will only be cancelled the day before in the event of very bad weather.)
‘Clean Coast’ is a clean-up campaign taking place across Slovenia’s coastal municipalities, now in its tenth year. As well as cleaning up, it aims to raise public awareness with the goal of reducing the amount of new litter entering the marine environment.
On International Coastal Cleanup Day, clean-up campaigns are carried out all over the world to clean up coastlines, lakes and riverbanks. A distinctive feature of the coastal clean-up is that data on the quantities and types of waste collected is gathered during the clean-up. The data collected on the waste is forwarded to the umbrella organisation Ocean Conservancy in the USA, which publishes an annual report.
