Press release – Clean Coast 2021

Dear friends of the sea,

We have just completed another successful Clean Coast 2021 clean-up campaign.

This year’s campaign was supported by the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, the Water Directorate of the Republic of Slovenia, and the municipalities of Ankaran, Koper, Izola and Piran, together with local utility companies. The Debeli Rtič Landscape Park, the Strunjan Landscape Park, the Ecologists Without Borders association, the Anbot association, the Slovenian Geocaching Club (SGK), KIŠD – students and school pupils from Izola, volunteers from Park Istra, the staff of CMA – CGM, and all other volunteers (Figure 1). The Slovenian Water Agency and the company VGP Drava Ptuj were responsible for the removal and management of the waste.

The event brought together 104 volunteers who had travelled from all corners of Slovenia and abroad. The volunteers cleaned up beaches and lakes at the following locations: Debeli Rtič, Koper, Izola, below Belvedere, Strunjan, Fiesa near Piran and Seča.
