Integrated water management is a process in which a wide variety of interests come together. The state is responsible for this and, through its Water Management Plans, sets out measures to prevent the condition of water bodies from deteriorating and to achieve the target of good status. The Goriška region almost entirely corresponds to the Soča river basin, which also includes all its tributaries (the Idrijca, the Vipava, etc.).
Through this questionnaire, we would like to ascertain how various stakeholders assess the current situation and the possibilities for involvement in the management process, as this is a highly interdisciplinary field which, in addition to water management issues, raises the broadest of social questions. By completing the questionnaire, you too will contribute to a better understanding of the situation and, consequently, to greater stakeholder involvement in the management process in the future.

The aim of the European SPARE project under the Interreg Alpine Space Programme is to support strategic decision-making and planning in Alpine river ecosystems. The Slovenian project partner is the Water Research Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, whilst the Posoški Development Centre is participating as an external contractor in the pilot area.

As part of the work in the pilot area, which covers the entire Soča river catchment, we intend to support the work of the Soča Foundation, whose aim is to strengthen the involvement of local stakeholders and the local population in decision-making processes relating to water management.

One of the necessary steps is the following online questionnaire, which will help us gain a better understanding of the current situation and the possibilities for involvement in water and riparian area management processes.
