Registration is now open for the Conference on River Basin Adaptation, which will take place in Nova Gorica on 7 and 8 March 2017.
The aim of the conference is to exchange experiences and identify good practices in collaboration between science and society in river basin management and adaptation to global change; and we therefore invite policy-makers and implementers, representatives of public institutions and non-governmental organisations, scientists and all other experts in the field of water management who are interested in developing strategies for adapting river basins to impending global changes.
The conference will last two days. One day of the conference will be dedicated to the exchange of experiences on collaboration between science and society. There will be a series of lectures, presentations and interactive sessions on best practices in adapting river basin management to global change through the involvement of wider society. Participants will have the opportunity to present their experiences in developing adaptation strategies for river basin management and the use of participatory tools. The deadline for submitting abstracts is 30 November 2016.
The second day will be devoted to a field trip to the Vipava river basin, which is one of the project’s four pilot areas. The field trip will proceed from the source downstream along the Vipava River, where participants will see a variety of sites, ranging from hydrotechnical structures, protected areas and a water retention basin to a municipal wastewater treatment plant.
