22 March – World Water Day

This year’s slogan for World Water Day is ‘Water for Peace’.

Without water, there is no life, and when it begins to run short, the struggle for survival gives rise to unrest among both humans and other living creatures. Sufficient quantities of clean water can mean peace, and our attitude towards water and how we manage it are key to maintaining peace.

At the Water Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (IzVRS), we recognise the importance of water and have been striving for its sustainable management for over 50 years through research, development and consultancy in the field of water management. Our mission is to contribute to sustainable water management both in Slovenia and internationally. Sustainable water management is becoming increasingly important at a time when climate change is already having a significant impact on the water cycle and, consequently, on many aspects of modern society.

Today, on World Water Day, we would like to emphasise:

At IzVRS, we are proud of our work and recognise the role we play in protecting water resources; we will therefore continue to strive for sustainable water management in Slovenia and internationally.

We invite everyone to join us in protecting this precious natural resource through their own actions.
