The Director of IzVRS, Mag. Neža Kodre took part in a panel discussion as part of the workshop ‘Digital Twin of Slovenia – First Insights’, which was organised under the auspices of the European Space Agency and included representatives from various initiatives, notably DestinE and DTE.

The discussion focused on the potential of digital twins for improved natural disaster management and the development of national capabilities in this field.

The Director highlighted the importance of integrating data and models, and the role of satellite data as a complementary source for a better understanding of water processes. She also presented the development of a digital twin of river basins, which enables the preparation of flood scenarios and supports spatial planning and strategic decision-making.

The event highlighted the importance of cooperation between national institutions and European initiatives in developing advanced digital solutions to enhance resilience to natural disasters.
